9/4/24 Inspiration


This day, I took out some old books and games I felt were influential on my development over the formative years and things that have a similar style to what I liked back then and have helped develop my style for what I make and what I like. I wanted to look at all of this to have some ideas for what I want the game's style to look like. I started off trying to consider character and asset designs. Looking at these things were helpful since dreams tend to take the form of things we know in the waking world and have them represent different things. I'm expecting to use different styles because of this fact.

Here is some of the stuff I've decided to look at for this process. …process. 
(Ignore that second "...process.", that is from an extension I have that is meant to mimic Tommy Nook from Animal Crossing New Leaf and New Horizons.)

Kid stuff + Mouse Guard and The Sailor Dog

(The book with three dogs is my old drawing book as a kid and has a bunch of old drawings and comics like from ~2nd-5th grade)
